Refund Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-29

This Refund Policy describes when refunds are available for pledges made to the Veins of Aldûn crowdfunding campaign and for purchases made in the game after launch. Payments are processed by Paddle as the merchant of record. Paddle's own refund terms apply alongside the terms below.

While the campaign is active

You may request a full refund of any pledge within fourteen (14) days of the date of payment, for any reason. No explanation is required during this window. The fourteen-day clock starts on the day the pledge is processed and runs in calendar days. Refunds requested within this window will be processed back to the original payment method through Paddle.

After funds are released to the project

Once funds are released to the developer (after the campaign closes successfully and the funding goal is met), pledges are generally non-refundable. The campaign explains, in the Terms of Service and on the campaign page, that a pledge funds development rather than purchasing a guaranteed deliverable.

The developer will, however, review refund requests on a case-by-case basis in the following kinds of circumstances:

  • Unauthorised payment or fraud on the account that pledged.
  • Duplicate pledge made in error.
  • Material, undisclosed change to a backer reward in your tier (where the change cannot be substituted with something of comparable value).
  • Other circumstances the developer judges to merit a refund, at the developer's discretion.

Discretionary refunds in this category are not a guaranteed right. Backers are encouraged to ask; an honest reply will be given either way.

If the campaign does not meet its funding goal

If the campaign closes without meeting its funding goal, all pledges collected during the campaign will be returned in full to the original payment method. No action is required from the backer.

If the project is cancelled after funding

If the project is cancelled after funding (an outcome the developer has no current intention of) the developer will publish a written explanation, account for funds spent to that point, and offer a pro rata return of any funds that have not been spent. The total amount returned in this scenario is capped at the funds that remain unspent.

Post-launch purchases

After the game launches, two kinds of in-app purchase will be available:

  • Premium subscription. Monthly or annual subscription that grants convenience improvements only (no power, no exclusive content). Subscriptions may be cancelled at any time through the device's app-store or account settings. Refunds for unused subscription periods are handled under the relevant app store's policies (Google Play for the Android client) and under Paddle's terms where applicable. Annual subscriptions cancelled mid-term may be refundable on a pro rata basis at the developer's discretion.
  • Cash Shop. Cosmetic and convenience items purchased through the in-game shop. Once an item is delivered to the account it is considered consumed and is non-refundable, except where the item is faulty, fails to deliver, or is granted in error. Reports of faulty or missing items will be investigated and corrected.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits the consumer protections you may be entitled to under applicable law (for example, distance-selling and digital-content rules under UK and EU consumer law). If your statutory rights are more generous than the terms above in any specific situation, those statutory rights apply.

How to request a refund

Send an email to hyperblade@veinsofaldun.com with the following:

  • The email address used to pledge.
  • The approximate date of the pledge.
  • The pledge tier (if known).
  • A short note explaining the request. Not required during the fourteen-day window, but helpful for the developer.

Refund requests are normally acknowledged within three working days. Processing the refund through Paddle and the original payment method typically takes a further five to ten working days to appear on the backer's statement, depending on the payment provider.

Paddle as merchant of record

Paddle handles payment processing, tax compliance, and chargeback handling for all transactions. Paddle's standard refund terms apply to every transaction in addition to the terms above. Where this policy is more generous than Paddle's standard terms, this policy controls (the developer will absorb the difference). Where Paddle's standard terms are more generous, those apply.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the campaign progresses and as the post-launch live service grows. Material changes will be communicated directly to active backers and reflected here with an updated Last updated date.
